Amazon’s God of War TV Show Reportedly Begins Filming in March 2026

Amazon Prime Video’s God of War adaptation may finally be moving into production. According to a report from Nexus Point News, the show is rumored to begin filming its first season in March 2026. Production will allegedly take place in Vancouver, a popular filming hub thanks to cost efficiency, tax incentives, and world-class crews.

The God of War TV show was originally announced on December 15, 2022, but faced delays and a full reboot last year after changing both showrunner and producers.

Ronald D. Moore Leading the Project

The series is now helmed by Ronald D. Moore, best known for Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and several Star Trek entries. Moore will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, with additional writers also attached to the project.

If filming does begin in early 2026, casting announcements should arrive by the end of this year, with the show likely targeting a 2027 premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon’s Push Into Game Adaptations

Amazon is heavily investing in video game IPs for Prime Video. Its Fallout series has already been renewed for seasons 2 and 3 after a hugely successful debut. Other announced projects include:

  • Like a Dragon: Yakuza – mixed reception so far.
  • Tomb Raider – featuring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.
  • Mass Effect – produced by the Fallout team.
  • Wolfenstein – in early development.
  • Life is Strange – confirmed earlier this week.
  • Warhammer 40,000 – set to star Henry Cavill, though its status remains unclear.

With God of War joining this lineup, Amazon is betting on PlayStation’s critically acclaimed franchise to capture a wider audience.
