Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has surpassed 1 million units sold worldwide as of its launch day, August 28, 2025. The figure includes both physical shipments and digital downloads, underscoring the high demand for the remake of the legendary stealth-action classic.
A Strong Start for the Franchise’s Revival
The milestone signals a promising revival for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, which has been largely dormant since the release of Metal Gear Survive in 2018. While the numbers don’t yet rival Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which shipped 6 million copies within a few months of release, Delta’s debut proves the series’ enduring popularity.

Faithful Remake with Modern Enhancements
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater faithfully rebuilds the 2004 classic with updated visuals, refined controls, and modernized mechanics, while preserving the beloved story and tactical stealth gameplay.

Set in 1964 during the Cold War, players step into the role of Naked Snake on a mission to rescue a Soviet scientist, dismantle the nuclear-equipped Shagohod, and face his legendary mentor, The Boss.

Development and Release
The project was handled internally by Konami Digital Entertainment, with guidance from longtime series figures Noriaki Okamura and Yuji Korekado, and additional support from Virtuos. Konami chose Snake Eater for its pivotal role as the chronological beginning of the series’ timeline and the importance of its characters to the overarching saga.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 28, 2025.
